I use a nord 50w with nord regular 1.4ohm coils & 5% 50/50 (pg/vg) salt nic juice. The coils state their max wattage is 12w, though. Should I be using a different coil/wick? From what I've read, the lowest recommended wattage for the 5% salt nic juice is 15w. So... I'm not sure I went with the right system. I don't want to end up burning through coils at a financially unwise rate. AND I don't want to burn or waste the juice. I'd been using 5% salt nic cartridges with a cig-a-like setup from greensmartliving. I liked them at first, but found I was spending hundreds a month, because the batteries don't last and the cartridges have become of questionable quality, lately. Any advice / suggestions? I'd appreciate ANY helpful feedback. Thanks!

there are no dumb questions. Having the device being called the nord 4 can be misleading. Unfortunately the nord coils are a little too small to fit into the nord 4 Pods. each nord 4 kit will come with an RPM pod and a RPM2 pod but the nord coil will not fit in either

Hey, I am having the worst time tryingt o figure this all out with my new Nord 2. So I generally use salt nic and I tried the 0.8 ohm mtl coil first, googles for HOURS to find the right wattage (this is my first time with an adjustable vape) and settled on 16. Within a day its already tasting burnt. I have refilled the pod, let it set for a while, everything that is normally suggested and the flavor is just shit. I want to try the other coil (rpm .4 ohm dl) but I am reading that salt nic is not a good idea in that coil. What do I do? How do I find whats right for me? And PLEASE what settings do I use for what?!?

Hello! The major difference between the coils is the resistance, or ohms. MTL stands for mouth-to-lung, which means the pull from the coil will replicate a cigarette. The 0.6 ohm coils are a DTL (direct-to-lung) which means the pull is loose and the vapour goes directly to your lungs. They are also a mesh coil, mesh means more vapour and more flavour. Salt nicotine is a type of nicotine that enters your bloodstream faster than the Freebase nicotine. The salt nic is smooth and gives you a similar throat "hit" to a cigarette.

Hi I’m on my way to work or else I would take me time and read thru the reviews, I’m sure my it will ask my question somewhere in there but I really have no time. So I’m really new at vaping and I have not thought about quitting cigarette as of right now. But I may have tried it a few times and my friend recently suggest I should get the SMOK Nord 2 if I were to get one, which I did (currently shipping to me so I’m not yet played around with it at all). My intention of purchase a vape was really think it’s convenient pull it out at certain indoor places and at home during desperate times and didn’t or couldn’t step out for a smoke. What kind of coil options is most suitable for my situation, there are just so many to choose from and I’m vape illiterate still. Any advice or tips much appreciated!

Hi, I'm using a Nord 2 and I'm pretty new to vaping. The device comes with variable wattage, and I'm still not understanding very clearly how can I calculate the optimal wattage to put through a coil depending on the resistance. Currently I'm using the Nord 2 with 0.6 ohm coils, at 15W, and I've also used 1.4 coils with the same power (15W) I'd like to know: 1. If this is ok, meaning, am I not damaging the coils at that power? 2. Which should be the ideal power for using with 0.6 and 1.4 coils to avoid burning them? 3. Which is the lifespan of a coil in days or maybe tanks refills? 4. Is there a way / simple formula to see how much wattage would be optimal for each coil? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate your time.

Hey, I’m currently using 50mg salt nic 60/40 on 0.8 mtl @ 8 - 12watts. Any recommendations on wattage? It tastes burnt after few uses. I usually sit the juice for good 15mins before i take the first hit. Should I try changing the ohm size? I really like the flavor and the vapor it creates once it works.

Hi there. An easy way to explain MTL Mouth-to-lung,is you puff it like a cigarette. You draw the vapor into your mouth, then inhale, just like a cigarette. Its really great if you're quitting smoking. DL, Direct-lung, is when you draw the Vapor directly into your lungs, bypassing the mouth. There's also a category called OL,Open-Lung. It's just like DL, however the draw is alot more open and airy, without restriction, but most people stop at the 2 descriptions, MTL and DL.

Hello, a MTL coil is also known as a Mouth to Lung coil. MTL (Mouth To Lung) coils will not produce as much vapor as they also run on a lower wattage.

Just wanted to know if I can use salt nic juices with the 0.6 or is it that only coils that are above 1.0 are good for salt nic? Or can the 1.4 also do salt nic and free base juices. Hi there. I own the whole lineup, from the novo,nord,RPM40,RPM80pro. You can use both types of nicotine with sub-ohm coils, I do it every day. They suggest to not do it, but the Nicotine level you use is the most important factor. If you use a high nicotine level, say above 20mg, you get a high enough hit to make your heart race. If you're hitting 3mg to 6mg on a sub-ohm coil (below 1.0 ohm) you'll be fine. I enjoy the airflow and flavor of sub-ohm coils, so I just dial my Nic. levels way down.

The 0.6 mesh coil is typically for freebase nics where as the 1.4 is designed for either freebase or salt nic. I get my rpm tomorrow as well but I have the smok nord. It's not really advised to use sub-ohm coils with salt nics as the delivery is really high and the hit could be very harsh

Hi John, the Nord .6 Mesh coils have a maximum wattage of 25W, so for the best flavour I recommend using the coil anywhere between 15W-20W. Make sure you're letting the coil prime and absorb the liquid for at least 5 minutes, start your wattage just below 12W, then slowly make your way up to 15. Then adjust between 15W and 25W and you should get the flavour to come through. If its still not coming through, another suggestion would be to switch from Nicotine Salt to Regular Nicotine. Hope this helps!

first of all 25mg Nic salt to be way too harsh for .60 ohm which is for direct lunch. further, check the VG PG ratio, for .60 ohm the best is 70VG and above. try different wattage level to adjust your taste.

Honestly, I wouldn't.if the 80=vg? then it's quite thick and vg is slow to absorb so you might get burnt hit. 50/50 would work better with that coil. VG also gunks up the coils much quicker and then they don't last. It can get expensive.

My spouse recently starting using the Novo. She was given two pods to go with- a mesh coil and a DC1.4MTL. We use freebase e liquid, low VG in it. Someone told us we should be using a salt nic liquid instead of freebase liquid. Is there a standard we should follow? Should we be using the mesh for the freebase liquid?

Hey Brandon, It depends on how low the VG content is in your ejuice; generally the best to use for pod style devices exceeds no more than 60% VG and optimal at 50% VG. The Mesh coil is more equipped with larger holes if you are going the freebase route due to the larger saturation holes on the coil, where as the 1.4 ohm will be smaller and is best with salt nic (Because salt nicotine runs thinner). The reason anyone would say that these pod styles are better with Salt nic is because generally all salt nic juices are more thinner, and freebase are usually thick at a 70VG 30PG. However if you do find an ejuice that is thin as salt nic then you may use freebase at the same performance as Salt nicotine, it just comes down to preference now of salt vs freebase. If you find your pod tastes dry and more cotton like after a few puffs, this is an indication that the freebase liquid is quite thick for the pod.

The odd time you can get a bunk coil. It shouldn't be a problem. Freebase would be even worse. The only thing to make sure though is to check the vg/pg ratio. I like 50/50 but when you're getting constant dry hits, its usually too much VG.

I would buy another 2 bottles of the same juice you have, but zero nicotine. Then you can mix it together to get the exact lower levels of nicotine that's safe and satisfying. Good luck!

You can use the 25 salt nic with the mesh but it will hit a little bit hotter than the 1.4 as well as more vapour production and you may feel the effects of nicotine faster . the mesh brings out a little more flavour because of how much surface area of the cotton inside of the coil is covered . Everyone is slightly different with how they handle nicotine so you may feel it as a little more of a throat hit. All within your preference. some people prefer the 1.4 with the salt nicotine, some prefer the mesh With how long the coil will last that depends on how often you're using it, mesh does go threw juice a little faster than the 1.4 so you may find they burn out a bit faster Hope this helps you a little bit

I’m scouring the internet to find 1.4 Smok Nord coils that aren’t ceramic and but that do come with the larger holes for increased juice flow. When I buy a new starter kit or a replacement pod with coils the 1.4 has different diameter holes than in the 5 packs that I have bought from vape shops. I haven’t found mention of this anywhere and am wondering if anyone else has noticed this also, and can help me find a place to buy the larger diameter holed 1.4 regular coils. Thx

Rough estimate for coils kind of changes from vaper to vaper, can also depend on juices that are used, if you are using the device a lot throughout the day as opposed to just vaping occasionly they wont last as long , as well as if you use a very sugary juice cause the sugar does caramelize on the coils and gunk them up a little faster, there isnt really a rough estimate on coils unless we know your vaping habits

You would want to use the 0.6 mesh Nord coils. Just be cautious that it does enhance the throat hit with any juice due to it being more powerful.

I use reg juice. I’ve been told Nic salts are stronger. I’m trying to cut down though on Nicotine and just switched from 16 to 14 mg in my juice then BOOM dropped my vape so I search high low for a vape shop and stumbled on the smok nord AIO 19. The guy at the vape shop was quick to put a coil in so I didn’t see which one he dropped. He said 1.4ohm is stronger then the 0.6ohm. So I bought a 5 pc and I find there is no flavour. DashVapes has ALWAYS been good to me but I was in CT in buck ho no where. Question. Which coil is better for taste? I’m ready to say “whatever” and go back to a Joyetech.

I much prefer 0.6 ohm coils for direct to lung using 15mg nic salt in a 50/50 mix. These coils last me about 2 weeks but also use my tvf8 at home. 1.4 ohm is best for mtl and 0.6 ohm for direct to lung.

Hi, I want to get it straight? Can you use regular e-juice (like 6mg) in any of the SMOK nord coils?! Secondly, which type of coil is best used for this? I have been using ~35mg nic salt in mine and I want to decrease nicotine and i want to get off the Nic Salts and back to regular juice Thank you!!

You could but it will be like any old MTL experience. Mesh coils are sub ohm they are recommended for freebase juice. But personally I'd use salt nic. If I did freebase I'd want a juice that is high in PG, you need it to wick into these coils.

Different juices use different types of nic and some are more harsh than others. Personally I vape naked 100 salt nic 35mg but I MAKE SURE I buy a bottle that is clear as water. They are NOT supposed to be yellow, whoever tells you a juice is yellow because of nic doesn't know anything about vaping. Most companies use nic that is clear as water and flavor adders that are also clear. They turn yellow because of a few reasons, old, exposed to heat for prolonged periods of time, or exposed to UV light (sun and even some bulb's) for a prolonged period of time. If you Find ANY juice that is clear I personally guarantee you that it will be smooth as could be.

Hi Kolby, you certainly can use salt nicotine in the 1.4 ohm coils. Realistically you can use salt nicotine in any coils, we usually recommend 1+ ohm coils for salt. Just keep in mind that salt nicotine could reduce the coil life. :)

I think the tanks last indefinitely. You may want to soak them in hot water. Personally I run hot tap water through my tank to clean it, and let it go. I was a two pack a week smoker, now I'm smoking a little less than two tanks of 3mg juice from my two units during the work day on a 0.6 ohm coil. But vape less in the evenings. So at that rate, I figure a 60ml bottle would last about 8 days if I could settle on just one flavour. I'm testing out the 6mg juices as of today, to see how my habits change. It really comes down to the frequency and levels. I understand the sweeter juices will burn the coil out faster than the minty ones. And just make sure your not burning on am empty tank. Learnt that the hard way!

I also vape heavy apparently. I use the .6 coils a 70/30 iced watermelon blend and I get approx 4 fills. So avg 12 ml before I need a new coil. That's easily 3-4 days for me

I use nic salts on a 0.6 ohm coil at 14 mg. I personally think which is really odd that my coil lasts longer. I had been hearing about others using 0.6 and 1.4 ohm where it lasts them weeks. Me personally the fluid tasted burnt and I vape hard so I was changing my coils every other day which financially for me wasn’t the point of this unit and my aim to quit smoking and save money. So, I tried nic salts after asking question about the 0.6 ohm coil and I LOVE IT. My coil now is currently on day 5, the liquid still tastes AMAZING and I’m using 14 mg. I also got the fluid without nic salts and the nic salts by far is way better. Try it out. At the end of the day there is a different feel and taste for everyone. I use Mango Freeze and Grape Chill

On average, one replacement coil will last about 1-2 weeks before needing to be replaced. Keep in mind that some factors play a key role in the life span of the coil, such as how frequent the device is fired and the type of juice being used.

Yes, absolutely. The 1.4ohm are well-suited to 30mg salts (or 15mg freebase) or less depending on your nicotine habit; I have a high nicotine habit and I find 25mg is my sweet spot for those. I don't personally use anything over 12mg salts or 6mg freebase with the 0.6ohm coils, but YMMV.
