Yes, there are a couple points of interest that should be reviewed prior to purchasing a flavour. One of them being coconut, or peanut allergies. In certain cases, where organic flavourings are used, a vaper can have an allergic reaction. Please inquire about flavour profiles and let it be known that you have allergies that requires you to stay away from certain ingredients. Another part of the liquid that may need to be avoided is propelyne glycol (PG). This is one of the base ingredients and is commonly found in all flavours. If you experience any symptoms such as sore throat, dryness of skin, or stomach pains, the trick is to request flavours of a different ratio other than the standard 50% PG/50% VG blends. In particular, you will want a ratio where the VG is of a higher percentage than the PG. This not only helps tone down the PG to useable levels without reactions, but it will also help with vaper production as well.

Another thing to look out for is if you are sensitive to certain types of metals. In this day and age, the coils (heating element) can be produced with a variety of materials instead of the usual A1 kanthal. Some have found that if a nickel coil is installed and used, symptoms of an allergic reaction can develop. Even though the utilization of nickel is kept within a safe range of use (via the ability to control the heat produced in certain devices), it can still effect those who are sensitive to it. A regulated device provides many built-in features for a user friendly experience. While providing as much information as possible on the display of a device, you will know exactly when to charge your batteries, or if there are issues surrounding a coil that is currently installed. A regulated device can also detect if the internals are reaching temperatures that are too high to continue operating under and will automatically cease firing. This is all thanks to a board/chip which acts as the "brain" for your device. With this, you have more control of your personal vape experience.

A mechanical device is very basic as it does not house a board/chip within it. In its simplest forms, these devices are either just a metal tube, or box with a firing button. With that being said, the user must be prepared with adiquette knowledge on topics such as, ohms law (voltage, current, resistance, and amps), and battery safety and limits (amp limits, over and under charged cells). This is why these types of devices are always recommended for experienced vapers. If there is something wrong with your setup, it is up to you to notice before hand, understand the issues, and properly trouble shoot them as there is no electronics to provide the warning signs and pin point the effected areas. The experience here is critical as a hard short in the circuit, or misuse of batteries could lead to potential danger and can inflict harm onto the user but, once you have a solid understanding of what goes into the use of a mechanical device, the safety concerns can be easily avoided but certain areas of interest should always be checked on just in case (i.e. looking for results of micro arching on batteries or contacts, or length of a 510 center pin for hybrid devices).

These devices can come in many different shapes and sizes. The options are there for your personal preference considering a combination of performance and aesthetics in order to further dial in your vape experience.


When looking at tanks, there must be a balance acheived between the airflow and power settings used. When a vaper takes a drag off of a tank system, a vaccum effect takes place. The negative pressure being built up inside helps displace liquid from the tank section, and into the coils. Once this process takes place, there needs to be enough heat produced in order to vaporize sufficient amounts of the incoming liquid so that it does not build up and flood the chimney section (inner tube where the resulting vaper travels through to exit the tank when inhaling) or coils. If not enough heat is present, that build up of liquid will then find its way to the base of the tank and eventually out the airflow holes.

The vaccum effect can be greatly increased or decreased if you have different airflow options, or by how fast/hard you take a drag. If the coil is being utilized within the recommended power range but leaking is still occurring, the current airflow setting being used could be too tight. Tightening the airflow will increase the vaccum effect and can force an excess of liquid into the coil, and while being on recommended power settings, it still may be too much to vape off. In this case, gradually open up the airflow while vaping until the tank no longer creates a gurgling noise. If this does not clear the coil or chimney section fast enough, you can simply hold some paper towel up to the airflow holes, and blow into the top of the tank to expell the excess liquid.

In some cases, the premade coils that are purchased for tanks can be a "dud". These products are mass produced by the hundreds of thousands, and some will slip through Q.C. during manufacturing. In a lot of cases, these are hand made as well with little aid from machines. In terms of leaking, the coil could have been produced with too little wicking material which would easily allow liquid to by pass the coil entirely and begin to fill up the chimney section or coil head.

If these answers do not work as a solution, there may be a manufacturing defect and should be brought in to be assessed by our knowledgable staff. Even if it is outside the warranty period, we can still try and troubleshoot the item with you to the best of our abilities.


Dry hits are when a coil's wicking material has not absorbed enough liquid prior to being fired, which causes it to become scorched and present a burnt flavour, and harsh vape. This stems from a couple problems which involves, the ratio of a certain flavour being used v.s. a coil's wicking capabilites, or power settings. In terms of the wicking, there are many ways that a coil can be setup by the manufacturer to take in juice. Depending on how the juice is allowed into the coil head, it can be too restrcitve in some cases for the amount of power that you wish to run it with. For example, the first generation of Aspire Nautilus coils were only good up to around the 8w-12w range, whereas the newer vertical style ones (Aspire BVC's) can handle wattage settings as high as 15w. This is a huge difference in useable power, and allows for a more flexible and enjoyable vape experience. This is because the first generations did not have a sufficient amount of wicking material, in order to stay saturated long enough, while taking a drag. The newer versions have a vertical coil installed in order to take advantage of how much more cotton (the most common wicking material found in the industry) can be stuffed into the coil head, thus holding more of the liquid prior to being fired.

Wicking can be an issue depending on how thick the final ratio of a flavour is. If there is a higher percentage of VG present, it can hinder the capillary action (the action of liquid being absorbed into cotton in this case) that is attempting to take place, and allow the coil to heat up on a dry wick. If this is what you are experiencing, you may wish to use a ratio that is closer to the 50% VG/50% PG range such as a, 60% VG/40% PG.

Another instance would be if the volts/wattage used is much higher than the recommended range. This can instantly vaporize any saturation on the wicking material, therefore allowing the coil to reach higher temperatures quicker, and scorching the cotton. This is why it is strongly advised to check the recommended range before use.

Chain vaping can easily lead to dry hits as well. While taking drags back to back, the coil will not have a chance to cool down and allow juice to feed back into the wicking material fast enough. During this process, the cotton can experience some scorching every time, and gradually lower the overall performance of the coil much quicker.


The priming of a new coil helps insure that the wicking material is prepped properly with eliquid so that the cotton does not become damaged from insufficient amount of saturation before heating up. All that needs to be done is simply drip a few drops of your preferred flavour directly into the top of the coil. Let it sink into the wicking material, and then add accordingly if you still see white, or dry cotton. This method is to speed up the process of getting a tank ready for vaping, as previously, you would have to let the tank sit, and allow the coil to naturally absorb the juice into its wicking channels over the course of 10-15 minutes to ensure full saturation. To try and extend the overall life of your coil, you can help "break in" the cotton by utilizing a power setting that is a bit lower than what you would normally use for a short period before increasing it to your preferred power settings again. Remember that not enough power can still be the cause of leaking, so you will only need to decrease the power by a few watts to avoid this.


The overall life span of a single coil can vary. There are a few factors that will play a significant part in effecting the length of that time period. One of which is the ratio of the liquid being used. If it has a ratio with a higher VG content, it will naturally gunk up the coil quicker as it is thicker and can slow down the ability to wick efficiently. Other factors include, how dark, and sweet a certain flavour is. In the case of very sweet flavours, the sweeteners used can cause a build up on the coil itself as it is not easily . Generally, you can expect a coil to last a week on average.
