Shaking Your E-Juice Bottles
May 8th, 2018

This is a question that we get asked almost everytime we sell a bottle of e-juice. The short and simple answer is yes and I’ll explain why.

E-juice contains different flavourings and ingredients that, over time, could separate. It’s happened to me before where I’ll leave a bottle of juice sitting for a little bit, and I’d sometimes find it gradually gets darker at the bottom. That’s because some flavourings and nicotine are either lighter or heavier than the ratio of juice. That’s also why a juice gets harsher nearing the end of the bottle if you haven't given it a good shake before vaping. I usually give my e-juice a really good shake before filling up my tank or dripping onto an RDA to make sure that the VG, PG, flavouring, and nicotine are evenly distributed. If you are still getting a weird taste from your e-juice, you should also try steeping your juice to take it a step further to ensure that your juice is fully mixed.

The VG / PG ratio and nicotine strength of a juice are also going to play a factor in how well it’ll mix. If I have a juice with a higher VG ratio, like a 70/30 or above, I’ll usually give them a really good shake as the higher VG content makes the juice much thicker. A thicker juice is gonna have a harder time mixing the ingredients as compared to a thinner juice. The same thing goes for nicotine. The higher the nicotine strength, the longer I’ll shake the bottle.

In short, shaking your bottles before vaping is a great way to ensure that everything in your bottle of e-juice is mixed together perfectly. Also, it’s going to provide the same flavour and throat hit all throughout the bottle. If you find that your juice is still tasting a bit off or harsh, you might have to take it a step further and try steeping it.
